About Us — no plans, ever.
No bookings, no perfect itineraries. Just wrong turns, random encounters and memories you can't buy.

Five of us, and whoever joins
We are a family of five, but the stories here are both family trips and my own adventures — I'm Leopoldo, the narrator behind noplanstravelling. Sometimes I travel with the whole family, sometimes with friends, sometimes it's just me and Licia. We have never been the type to book anything in advance. Having no plans means doing what we feel like doing, or what the people we meet along the road talk us into.

Cheap on purpose
Every trip is cut around what we need in that moment, and it can't be repeated. We try to travel cheap: it's too easy to travel in full comfort spending a lot. Bargaining over a tuk-tuk in India, sleeping in the car in Iceland, hiking volcanoes on our own in Indonesia, crossing the desert alone in Morocco — that's the fun part, and the part you remember.

Locals are the best travel agents
Travelling this way, we end up crossing paths with the people who actually live the places we visit. They become our travel agents, our guides, our dinner company — often for free. We go out because we want to see how other people live, not because we want to rest.

Don't copy us
If this sounds like your kind of trip, read on — but careful: we don't want you to replicate what we did. There are tips here, and mistakes you can avoid, but we have zero intention of being travel guides. Go build your own memories, talk to strangers, make friends in places you can't pronounce. Go out and explore, but remember: NO PLANS.
